Angels - Part 2

"This poem is about a couple that contributes in so many different ways, both inside and outside the church."

Someone said to me, "I have a question for you,
What, if anything, does your associate pastor do?"
Well, he does a couple of things, maybe even three
Why don’t we take a look and then we will see.

He teaches and sometimes preaches and does drama too
He takes care of who uses the building and how they do
He plans, he directs and he is good with a tool
Fixes things, runs the projector and directs Sunday School.

He’s part of each team - worship, teach, reach and care
And if you need him, rest assured he’s always right there.
He wears many hats well and believe me that’s the truth
Sings with Herndon Town Singers and involved with the youth.

He collects the eggs, milks the cows and feeds the sheep
Does all these chores and even more with nary a peep.
Works with the deacons, sings with the band, and drives the bus
Maybe not the egg and cow thing, but he sure feeds sheep . . .us.

Now he’s not alone in his work in this God’s house
He has a beautiful and talented partner who is his spouse
A real dedicated worker for God, on her we really do dote
She’s our music minister and a real lady of note.

Her presence lifts our spirits higher and higher
As she plays the organ, leads the singing, and directs the choir
She’s in charge of communication and does that job well
Besides leading a group that rings a meal bell.

Always working harder than she really oughta
Still plans and directs cantata after cantata.
Undaunted by the myriad of tasks
Always has time for whoever asks.

She’s a leader, a planner, a director, and that’s not all
She makes all the banners that cover our sanctuary wall.
Sings with the Herndon Town Singers amid all the fuss
Works with the kids, holds retreats . . . oh yes! She drives the bus.

Now it has been said and much more that twice
When they came to us we got two for one price
That analogy misses the point quite a lot
There’s so much, much more that we got.

One very important thing before this message ends
The very best thing that we got . . . is two very good friends!
