Seasoned Citizen

Old Man

"I wrote this one for Senior Citizen Sunday."

Don Husted, Sr.

I remember way back when
Life was a breeze when I was ten
A real adventure full of fun
Then all of a sudden-I’m thirty-one

That’s okay ‘cause life’s great for me
Just think I’m only ... can you believe forty-three?
Seems like yesterday I turned, wow ... really ... fifty-five?
Well think nothing of it, things are great, I got it made
So here we go ... oops! What happened to that last decade?

Well, so be it, I’ll make it cause I have just reasoned
You see I’m not really old, I’m just seasoned
How old are you people often ask
As I go about my daily task

My answer is, I tell you true
It all depends on your point of view
But I’ll tell you as I tell everyone
I’m as young as the dawn and as old as the sun

Then comes the question, like in a test
Tell us please what age you like best
Now there’s a simple answer to that
The age I like best ... is the age that I’m at!
